About the GLOBIS Cup

Overview
The GLOBIS Cup is a global tournament of professionals and amateurs under 20 years old. The U20 world champion is determined through a 16-person double elimination tournament.
Qualifications for Entry
Persons who are under 20 years old on January 1 of the year of the event.
Japanese players must be professionals at that time.
Tournament Format
  • - Even games. White receives 6.5 compensation points.
  • - Time Allotment: 30 seconds per move, plus 10 periods of extra thinking time, 1 minute each. (NHK style)
  • - Being late to the event results in immediate forfeiture.
Prizes
Grand Champion: 3 million yen; Runner-up: 500,000 yen; 3rd place: 200,000 yen
